Creating any arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - jw48 - 02-16-2013 Nice one Chris! Start with a randomly drawn line and finish up with a precisely positioned arc. John RE: Creating any arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - i44troll - 02-16-2013 John, As simple as it is, you have no idea how long I have struggled for a solution to this. RE: Creating any arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - williamj - 02-16-2013 Good job Chris, It really is amazing, once all the hard work is done, how simple and easy things really are. RE: Creating any arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - RandyN - 02-17-2013 Thanks Chris Randy RE: Creating an arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - AlwMVMO - 04-20-2014 Here is an easier way to create an arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc. 1. Create a circle that is 3" larger than the small arc centered on the small arc (let's say the small arc is .5" then you would create a 3.5" radius circle). 2. Create a 3" radius circle centered on the point. 3. You will get two intersections. Pick the intersection on the side you want the tangent to be on and create a 3" radius circle. 4. Split the last 3" circle, trim it to the point and small arc, and delete the first two circles. This method also works to create an arc tangent to two other arcs. I started to put this in the hints and tips forum but then I found this thread. RE: Creating any arc radius from an outside point tangent to another arc - i44troll - 04-20-2014 AlwMVMO, Indeed it is! Thankyou for your submission. I see by your profile that we may have quite a bit in common. Good to have you with us now. Chris "i44troll" |
